katha.akar
shaping stories
An initiative to equip young girls with
digital storytelling skills to bring out unheard stories of different cultures across Nepal.
About Project
Katha.akar
In September of 2020, Team Katha.akar was announced as one of the recipients of the Sujata Baskota Changemaker Award in the Women in Media category, awarded by Women LEAD Nepal. With the vision of training young girls in digital storytelling and making their voices heard, Katha.akar carried out its pilot project in Dang, Nepal. After the massive success of the pilot and immense support from our well-wishers, team Katha.akar continues to impart practical storytelling skills to the young girls who need them.

Dipasa Bista
Senior Officer, Development and Fundraising Women LEAD Nepal
From one of the winners of Women LEAD's Sujata Baskota changemaker's Award to an independent org/program/entity, it has been amazing to witness the growth of Katha.Akar from day one. I love how passionate the team of Katha.akar are. They have taken plenty of time , efforts and piloted the program to develop the best version of the program. I am very excited and looking forward to their future endeavours.
Jyotsana Prajapati - Teach for Nepal Alumna
Katha.akar gave my students a platform to express a part of their lives, the untold stories of the rural community that needs to be seen and heard by everyone. So grateful to the team and their initiation.
